Hypnotherapy is sometimes confused with some magical therapy that puts you to sleep and makes you do stuff that you would not normally do. This is due to years of being exposed to wrong information from books read, songs heard and movies watched.

You have probably seen hypnosis shows where the hypnotized audience members appeared to be doing whatever the stage hypnotist was asking them to do, and had no control.  

I have been doing hypnosis shows, hypnotherapy sessions, seminars, and training for more than 30 years. I can assure you that you can never be forced into hypnosis, or do anything against your nature.

The hypnotized person is not sleeping, has complete control at all times, and can come out of the wonderful feeling of hypnosis any time he wants to.

In a hypnotic trance, you are very relaxed, and your brain goes through the same process that you go through when you are sleep. However, you do not fall asleep in hypnosis. That is why a few minutes of hypnosis could feel like a few hours of sleep. You are fully aware of your surroundings, can access your conscious and subconscious mind, and can make decisions.

In a hypnotic session, and self-hypnosis you can manage, reduce and eliminate your stress, control anxiety, let go of fears, and reduce your pain and discomfort.
